Jeep has opened pre-launch bookings as it commenced the local assembly of the Grand Cherokee in India. The SUV is being manufactured at the brand’s Ranjangaon facility in Pune. This makes it the Brand’s fourth nameplate to be made in India.

The India-spec Grand Cherokee is reportedly expected to be offered with a 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid powertrain. Globally, however, the SUV also gets a 3.6-litre V6 and a 5.7-litre V8 engine option. It will feature a Quadra-Trac four-wheel-drive System and Selec-Terrain traction management system offering the choice between on- and off-road settings.

The new Grand Cherokee features a slim 7-slot grille at the front with LED headlamps on either side. It also gets LED daytime running lights that are integrated into the main headlamp cluster and LED fog lamps mounted on the bumper. Jeep asserts that the all-new architecture and sculpted aerodynamic body style are combined to improve vehicle performance, safety, and reliability.

The SUV will probably be offered with a 5-seat configuration, and will come equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. It will also get a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), multiple airbags, and electronic stability control. It will further feature a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a powered tailgate and a head-up display.
