Mahindra’s calling its all-new Scorpio-N the big daddy of SUVs. Prices for the Scorpio-N start at Rs 11.99 lakh for the entry-level petrol (manual transmission), rising to Rs 19.49 lakh for the top-spec diesel variant (manual transmission). All prices are ex-showroom, India. For the automatic lineup, the prices will be revealed on the 21st of July 2022. Besides this, the prices announced today are only for the first 25,000 bookings. Mahindra Scorpion-N unveiled

The new Scorpio-N comes in five trim levels: Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 and Z8 Luxury. The petrol engine is standard on all five trims with a manual transmission, while the automatic transmission is available starting with the Z4 trim. It comes standard with a seven-seat configuration, while only the top-spec Z8 Luxury trim can be had with a six-seat configuration, along with captain’s seats for the middle row.

As far as performance goes, the Scorpio-N gets a 2.0 turbo-petrol and a 2.2 diesel, the diesel is available in two states of tune. First up, the 197-bhp petrol engine produces 37.73 kgm and 38.75 kgm of torque in manual and automatic transmissions, respectively. Whereas, the 2.2-litre diesel engine’s lower state of tune results in 130 bhp and 30.59 kgm of torque, while its higher state of tune results in 172 bhp and 37.73 kgm (manual) or 40.79 kgm (automatic). Coming to the 172-bhp diesel Scorpio-N, there are three on-road drive modes on offer — Zip, Zap and Zoom, similar to the XUV700, with peak power only being produced in Zap and Zoom modes. Now, the power is capped at 136 bhp in Zip mode. Also, the higher-spec diesel and the turbo-petrol engines can also be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, but all three engines come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission. Oh, and if you’re keen on 4×4 variants, it starts from the Z4 trim, and is only available in diesel.

Coming to the features, the top model variants come equipped with features like dual-zone climate control, a fully digital instrument cluster, a front and rear camera, auto start-stop, cruise control, Type-C USB ports for the first and second rows, keyless entry, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-speaker 3D Sony sound system, and connected car features. Additionally, it has what3words with Alexa support, which enables you to set your location with just a three-word phrase.

On the safety side of things, it comes loaded with features like six airbags, traction control system, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system, and driver drowsiness detection system, among others.
