An icon need not be something that is the prettiest or the fastest. It can merely be the most ludicrous – and the Viper certainly was that. When it was put into production a quarter of a century ago, nobody was too sure if an engine from a pickup truck would manage to power a sportscar, but power it, it has – for 25 whole years. It now has reached its final year of production, and we’re sure in many places, passengers with burned calves are sighing a collective sigh of relief. However, despite all its lack of manners and electronic aids, it does resonate with us on a fundamental level – we don’t know a single enthusiast who wouldn’t want to tame the beast – and to celebrate its last year of production, the Viper is being offered in a few special editions.

They’re called the 1:28 Edition ACR, GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACR, VoooDoo II Edition ACR, Snakeskin Edition GTC, and Dodge Dealer Edition ACR. Those are the ones you see in the image above, and our obvious pick is the GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACR, because we’ve gawked countless times at that poster on the wall of the white Viper with the twin blue racing stripes.
