BMW M GmbH added a new body variant to its line-up of high-performance models in the premium midsize class. It premiered the new M3 Touring at the Goodwood Festival of Speed recently this week. The model combines authentic motorsport feeling with a very distinct character and a broader spread of practical qualities.

BMW M3 Touring front

The M3 Touring gets the 510-bhp version of the six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kph takes 3.6 seconds and the sprint from 0 to 200 kph requires just 12.9 seconds. The optional M Driver’s Package further increases the electronically limited top speed from 250 kph to 280 kph.

Apart from the basic 4WD setting, the driver can also select 4WD Sport mode via the Setup menu. This provides an even more intense experience of the M xDrive system’s rear-biased tuning. Switching off DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) puts the car into pure rear-wheel drive.

BMW M3 Touring interior

The variable-use interior of the first BMW M3 Touring further gives it a distinctive character profile, for customers to experience M-typical performance in everyday use. The new BMW iDrive, including BMW Curved Display, brings cutting-edge control and connectivity tech to the cabin.

On the outside, the car gets a vertically arranged, frameless BMW kidney grille, large side air intakes, powerfully sculpted wheel arches and prominently extended side skirts. All this, together with the attachment parts for the front and rear aprons, form a black high-gloss band around the whole of the car.

The BMW M3 Touring will be produced alongside the BMW M3 Sedan at the BMW Group Plant in Munich. Orders for the new BMW M3 Touring will be taken from September 2022, ahead of a market launch that will get underway with the start of production in November 2022.
