The much-awaited Toyota Yaris has been on everyone’s radar since its Auto Expo appearance earlier this year. Essentially marking Toyota’s entry into the mid-sized saloon segment, the Yaris is a well-rounded product as Kartik points out in his First Drive Review here. Priced at Rs 8.75 lakh onwards, the Honda City rival will be launched on May 18, the company has revealed in an official announcement today.

Detailed price list of the car can be found in our earlier story here. It will be offered only as a petrol-powered model, with the option to choose from a manual gearbox or a CVT automatic unit. It shares its engine with the Toyota Etios, but in the Yaris it makes more power at 105 bhp. But where the car truly excels is in the features department. Standard fitment includes seven airbags, roof-mounted AC vents, and disc brakes on all four wheels. The CVT-equipped car gets paddle shifters, whereas things like cruise control, touchscreen infotainment unit (complete with gesture control), parkings sensors, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, and even tyre pressure monitoring system are included as well.

Those interested in buying the car can make a booking against a deposit of Rs 50,000.
