Toyota dealers are reported to have begun accepting bookings for the upcoming Toyota Yaris saloon. The car, to be positioned above the Etios, will rival other mid-sized offerings like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, etc.

Showcased and announced at the Auto Expo 2018 last month, the Yaris is all set to be an important product in the Toyota line up. Not only will it make the brand stronger in the saloon space; with its neat list of features, it’s bound to get attention from buyers who would have otherwise spent their money on one of the competitors.

Toyota will offer the choice of a 7-speed CVT or a 6-speed manual gearbox on the Yaris. A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine will power the car, and given how it performs in the Etios, we think the Yaris will continue with the same sort of refinement and reliability. It must be also be mentioned that the Yaris will be more powerful than the Etios, with the petrol engine making upwards of 105 bhp.

The features list on the Toyota Yaris will include ambient lighting, gesture control for the 7-inch infotainment system, impact-sensing door unlocking mechanism, Isofix child seat mount, leather seats, projector headlamps, up to seven airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, disc brakes on all four wheels, etc.The list further continues with roof-mounted AC vents, Hill-Start Assist, Stability Control, paddle shifters (CVT), cruise control, etc.

Bookings are currently being made at the dealership level, and all the dealers that we got in touch with mention a launch in the second half of next month. One of the dealers delved further and said that the car will be launched on April 24.

Let’s wait for Toyota’s announcement regarding the launch date, price, and bookings.
