Toyota and Maruti Suzuki signed an agreement under which both brands would benefit by sharing models, production, and even technology. The first model to come out of this is the Toyota Glanza. Launched today, the car is essentially a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback, with prices starting from Rs 7.22 lakh and going all the way up to Rs 8.9 lakh.

It’s powered by a BS-VI-compliant K-Series engine that produces 82 bhp for the petrol engined models and 88 bhp for the petrol-hybrid version. Like on the Baleno, it includes a 5-speed MT or an optional CVT. The standard warranty is of 3 years/1 lakh km but can be extended to 5 years/ 2.2 lakh km.

Toyota Glanza features include standard dual airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, LED projector headlamps, DRLs, electrically foldable outside rear view mirrors, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, etc. There are five colours to choose from, and as is the case with the Baleno, there’s no black. Diamond-cut alloys, ISOFIX child seat mounts, keyless entry and go, interactive TFT MID and dual-tone fabric seats are some of the other features.
