Since 2004, Mercedes-Benz has sold more than 4.5 lakh CLS models across the world. Currently, we have the third generation CLS at sale in its diesel guise (CLS 300d), priced at Rs 86.39 lakh, ex-showroom.

Every year, Mercedes is making it difficult for us to spot the difference between its models. The CLS with its revised bumpers, grille, sleeker headlights gives the coupe a sporty impression. Thanks to the AMG Line exterior, the sporty bits can be seen on the CLS.

However, the major highlight apart from the design on the CLS is in the engine department. Now, it has a mild-hybrid diesel engine. The CLS 300d gets the 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with a 15 kW electric boost, producing 261 bhp. This is good enough for the CLS to do a 0-100-kph sprint in 6.4 seconds. There are other petrol and diesel engine options as well. And a CLS AMG 53 that produces 429 bhp, and does 0-100 kph in 4.5 seconds. There isn’t a full-blown CLS AMG 63 yet.

As for the Indian market, we are not sure what powertrains will be available. But you will not have to wait forever for this answer. Just like last year, Mercedes-Benz will be launching quite a few models in 2021 as well. Stay tuned for more updates on the CLS.
