We’re patiently waiting for Mercedes-Benz India to launch the all-new C-Class here. Meanwhile, in the global market, the covers are already off the all-new Mercedes-AMG C 43.

Now, the previous-generation Mercedes-AMG C 43 ran on a 3.0-litre V6 engine that pushed out 375 bhp. The story’s a bit different this time around, as the new AMG C 43 ditches the two cylinders and embraces the four cylinders from the 2.0-litre M139 engine. You’ll recognise this engine from the hot-hatch Mercedes-AMG A 45 S. In the C 43, the engine delivers 402 bhp, giving it a massive power boost over the previous-gen C 43.

The turbocharged engine also has a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with a belt-driven starter generator that can deliver a 14-bhp boost for a short period of time. Power is sent to the 4Matic four-wheel-drive system through a 9-speed gearbox with a wet start-off clutch in place of the old torque converter setup. The C 43’s four-wheel-drive system is rear-biased, allowing the rear wheels receive up to 69 per cent of the power.

The new C 43 is pretty decent off the line with a 0-100-kph sprint time of 4.6 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 250 kph, but with the optional AMG Driver’s Package, it may be extended to 265 kph.

On the features front, it gets 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, but you can opt for bigger 19- or 20-inch wheels as well. Inside, you get AMG seats wrapped in black synthetic microfiber material with red contrast stitching. Of course, you can upgrade to leather or Nappa leather, too. We’re not sure when the C 43 will make its way to India, but we’re hoping that it does soon.
