Dacia, a sub-brand of Renault, is looking to sell its all-electric hatchback called the Spring Electric, which is based on the Renault Kwid, in some European markets. Earlier this year at Auto Expo 2020, Renault had showcased the K-ZE, and this Dacia Spring Electric is more or less the same car with a different grille design.

Early next year, Dacia will sell the Spring Electric in two versions: a car-sharing version and a cargo utility version. In the case of the utility version, the rear seats are taken out, lending it a cavernous 800 litre boot space with a loading length of 1033 mm.

Inside, the Spring Electric has a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, sat-nav, Bluetooth and a USB input as well. It also has voice recognition, which can be activated through a steering mounted button.

Powering it is a 26.8 kWh battery pack, which sends juice to a motor making 43 bhp and 12.75 kgm of torque. On a single charge, it can cover 225 km. As far as charging is concerned it can charge up to 80 percent in less than an hour through a 30 kW CCS DC fast charger. With a standard 7.4 kW wall-mounted box charger, it takes 5 hours for a full charge.

We don’t know if the K-ZE will make it here in the near future, but we do know that if it does come here, it will be one of the most affordable EVs to go on sale.
