For a car company, the main motive behind offering test drives to prospective customers is to convert them as sure buyers. There certainly are multiple ways of doing that, but it appears that Nissan India has taken an enthusiastic approach to selling cars. It’s called the Test-Drive Challenge and is valid for the whole month of March.

Under the challenge, one must go and take a test drive of any of the automatic cars: Nissan Micra CVT, Nissan Sunny CVT, and Datsun redi-GO AMT. And if for some reason they decide to buy one of the competitors’ products in the same segment, they stand a chance to win accessories worth Rs 8000.

This may sound weird at first, but on the other hand, it shows Nissan’s confidence in its products. Both the Micra and Sunny come with CVT gearboxes, offer a good amount of space, and are fairly easy to drive, too. The Datsun redi-GO makes a strong VFM case for itself, and with features like Rush Hour Mode offered on the AMT version, it manages to offer a bit more than its direct rivals.

There’s of course the fine print. Necessary documents proving the purchase, insurance, invoice, etc. will have to be presented within 7 days of taking a test drive of the Nissan/Datsun product. A list of accessories will be presented and the buyers can only opt from it, and can spend up to Rs 5,000 on the Datsun’s alternative and up to Rs 8,000 on whatever they buy instead of the Micra or Sunny.

Nissan Motor India’s MD, Jerome Saigot said, “The test-drive challenge is a testimony of our strong belief in the capabilities of our products and we look forward to welcoming new customers to our family through this month-long promotion.”
