Isuzu has launched a refreshed version of its flagship Isuzu mu-X SUV in India. Prices start at Rs 26.26 lakh for the 4×2 variant and Rs 28.22 lakh for the 4×4. Updated styling aside, it also gets an improved features list and a more upmarket cabin.

What hasn’t changed is the venerable 3-litre diesel engine that produces 174.5 bhp and 390 Nm. Regardless  of the version you choose (4×2 or 4×4), it comes with a 5-speed sequential shift AT. In addition, the 4×4 variant gets a shift-on-the-fly selector.

The new Isuzu mu-X boasts 230 mm of ground clearance, new 18-inch alloys, Bi-LED projector headlamps with DRLs, refreshed tail lamp cluster, a two-tone rear spoiler and a shark fin antenna to complement.

On the inside, the new Lava Black interior upholstery comes with quilt-pattern leather seats. The dashboard is fitted with soft-touch panels, claims the company, and the centre console is finished in silver. There are six airbags in total now, in addition to other active safety systems like ESC, TCS, HDC, ABS, EBA, and EBD. Isuzu boldly claims that it also offers best-in-class space inside, and that it hasn’t ignored the third row space and comfort, either.

Isuzu Motors India’s MD, Naohiro Yamaguchi said, “The Isuzu mu-X has been gathering a lot of momentum in the Indian SUV market and is gradually becoming a preferred choice for many Indian families, thanks to its sheer space and comfort it offers. Today with the all-new mu-X, we have upped the ante in our offering to the Indian SUV enthusiasts and changing lifestyle of Indian families, who seek ‘more’ from us. The new mu-X is a perfect answer to those who will appreciate the capability and value it offers. I strongly believe the new mu-X will go on to win many more hearts in India.”
