More from Motoring

Since its launch on October 23, 2018, the all-new Hyundai Santro has received a great response from the market. According to Hyundai’s official data, more than 38,500 bookings have been made since then, and it also garnered about 2.11 lakh enquiries.

Launched first in 1998, the Hyundai Santro went on to become one of the market favourites. It offered a lot of space, had a peppy engine, and was fairly good to drive, too. Despite the absence of a diesel engine, the car continued to sustain.

The new one might share a lot with the original Santro, but the company’s made quite a progress in understanding the buyer. So the new Hyundai Santro gets a touchscreen audio system, AMT gearbox (optional), and even CNG if you’re looking for a greener and less expensive alternative to petrol.

Prior to the car’s launch, Hyundai’s campaigns for the Santro including the Brilliant Moments worked well. You can read more about it by clicking here. And if the initial success is anything to go by, the company is all set to enjoy the same success with the new car as it did with the Santro back in the day.

The market has also responded to the optional AMT gearbox well, with about 30 per cent of the overall bookings made for the automatic model. The CNG variant contributed to 18 per cent of the figures, adds the company.

HMIL’s MD and CEO, Y K Koo said, “The All New SANTRO is a true expression of Hyundai brand in India. The Modern Stylish Tall Boy Design, New Age Technology, Comfortable and Premium Cabin, All Around Safety and Performance of All New SANTRO has won the aspirations of Indian customers making it a trendsetter product. We are overwhelmed with the positive customer response and strong appreciation of the All New SANTRO.”
