The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance, the most powerful AMG ever, has been launched for a jaw-dropping Rs 3.3 crore (ex-showroom, India). So, what do you receive for that money?
For starters, the GT 63 S E Performance gets a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 640 bhp. The E in the name refers to an electric motor positioned on the rear axle, which produces an additional 204 bhp. The combined performance comes at 840 bhp and 150 kgm of torque. Instead of the normal attempt to travel further on a single litre of petrol, AMG employs hybrid power to propel this big four-door coupe from 0-100 kph in 2.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 316 kph.
The rear-mounted electric motor is linked to a two-speed transmission, which transfers electric drive to all four wheels, thereby making this an AWD vehicle. It has a 12-km all-electric range and can hit a top speed of 130 kph in full electric mode.
On the design front, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance gets a chrome-finished AMG-specific radiator grille up front with multi-beam LED headlights, E-performance badging, and an electronically retractable spoiler. It also features a reworked front and rear bumper, an integrated charging flap on the rear bumper, trapezoidal dual exhaust tailpipes, and 20-inch AMG five-double-spoke forged wheels (21-inch wheels are offered as optional).
Inside, it has an AMG Performance steering wheel and twin 12.3-inch displays with extended MBUX functions. Other features include 64-colour ambient lighting, heated front seats, and a 14-speaker Burmester sound system. It also has seven drive modes: Slippery, Individual, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Electric, and Race. Let us know what you think of this first plug-in hybrid performance car by Mercedes.
