Exclusivity is the name of the game, and it doesn’t get much more exclusive than the McLaren 675 LT – a car which builds upon an already impressive machine and only 500 of which will be built. Heck, Jenson Button hasn’t managed to get his hands on one. But now there’s an even more exclusive edition out, and it is called the McLaren Special Operation Carbon Series LT.

It is called that because pretty much everything you can see on the body is made out of carbonfibre. That’s an extra 40 per cent of the panels – including the retractable roof and tonneau, A-pillars, bonnet and rear deck, side blades, complete front and rear wings, and fuel filler flap. The material they’re made from is put on display thanks to a gloss coating and nothing else. Oh, and no, you can’t swap them out to build yourself a Carbon LT from a ‘standard’ 675 LT. It’s still powered by the same 666 bhp 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine, so you can possibly keep up. (How much does the coat of paint on a modern car weigh?)

Only 25 MSO Carbon Series LTs will be made, and they’re all spoken for. We’re reasonably certain that a certain Jenson Button will be one of the owners…
