Last year the latest-generation Skoda Octavia was launched and it was only a matter of time before its RS version would break cover. Skoda has finally unveiled it and this time around it’s got three powertrains on offer.

First up is the regular RS, which produces 242 bhp from its 2.0-litre TSI engine. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG. Next is the plug-in-hybrid Octavia RS, which bears the iV moniker on it. This version produces the same amount of power as the 2.0-litre TSI motor, but from a much more efficient 1.4-litre TSI engine and an electric motor. This one is only available with a 6-speed DSG. Finally, we have a diesel RS from Skoda. Powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine producing 178 bhp, paired to a 7-speed DSG. Additionally, you can also choose between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive on top of engine choices.

Visually, the 4th generation Octavia RS gets additional badging on the outside and inside, gloss black grille, ORVMs, window frames and the rear spoiler. Overall, the new Octavia RS is sportier than the outgoing model. Nevertheless, it’s nice to see all the generations of the RS in a family portrait, no?
