The brand Speedmaster returns to the Triumph line up with the launch of the latest iteration, the 2018 Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster. Based on the Bonneville, it is a cruiser by the British bike-maker, and comes with two custom kits: the aggressive-looking Maverick and the cruising-orientated Highway kit.

Powered by a 1200 cc parallel-twin engine that makes 76 bhp and 10.81 kgm, the Speedmaster also boasts a distinctive exhaust note — deeper and richer than that of the T120, claims Triumph. Ride-by-wire enables the Speedmaster to be offered with Road and Rain riding modes. There’s ABS, Traction Control (switchable), and even a single-button cruise control. There’s a dual 310-mm disc setup at the front, and a single 255 mm unit at the rear. The rear monoshock is hidden for the hard-tail appearance but comes with a preload adjuster. Up front the motorcycle gets 41 mm cartridge fork with 90 mm travel.

There are over 130 custom accessories — and the aforementioned kits — available for the Speedmaster, and it’s fairly packed with features, too. A 5-inch full-LED headlight is standard affair, and so is the analogue speedometer. The colour palette includes Jet Black, Cranberry Red, and a combination of Fusion White with Phantom Black.

The motorcycle, will be available at all Triumph dealerships at a price of Rs 11,11,500, ex-showroom. The company has its presence in about 15 cities but even if you aren’t in one of those, with a service interval of 16,000 km, the Speedmaster looks easy to live with, too.

Triumph India’s MD, Vimal Sumbly said, “With the Speedmaster, your motorcycle will not just be your trusty, beloved ride, but also the accessory that redefines your individual style. And what’s more, the Speedmaster, like all Triumph offerings, comes without compromise to quality, efficiency, and safety, Featuring in the Classic Cruiser category, this product showcases the changing world of motorcycling. Our goal is not just to dominate the market but to continue upgrading the entire biking experience in India. We will further strengthen this category over time, and continue to deliver THE RIDE that Triumph is known for.”
