Straight from the horse’s mouth, Ola’s all-new electric scooter launch is right around the corner. Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola’s Chairman and Group CEO, tweeted about the Ola electric scooter, asking Tweeple what colour options they’d prefer. Of course, Tweeple replied with the option for bright colours, matte and glossy colours, and a bunch of other opinions.

Having dropped a few teasers already of the scooter, Ola hasn’t revealed any official information on the electric scooter yet. But what we do know is that it will roll out of a brand-new 2-million-units-per-annum manufacturing plant to be set up in Tamil Nadu. Not only India, but this huge manufacturing facility will also cater to Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Its 500-acre mega factory, which is being constructed in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district, will be ready by 2022. And Ola claims that it will have a total capacity of manufacturing 10 million units. But in the plant’s first phase, it will manufacture 2 million units annually, slated to be ready by the end of this month. At full capacity, Ola reckons that it will roll out one electric scooter every 2 seconds. This mega factory will also house operations for battery, paintshop, welding, motor, general assembly, and finished goods. All this will use close to 3,000 robots across various operations. Oh, and there will be a test track, too. With this mammoth manufacturing facility, the Ola electric scooter is definitely on the right path toward sustainability.
