Honda recently updated one of its most iconic motorcycles in the international market. The MSX125 Grom is a descendant of the small-wheeled ‘Monkey’ bike from the 1960s. Over the years, the legend lived on in the shape of the Dax, Ape and more recently the Monkey resurrection in 2018.

In its latest guise, Honda has updated the MSX125 with completely redesigned bodywork, which is easy to remove and highly customisable. Also new is the LCD instrument cluster which now comes with a rev counter and gear position indicator. Other than that, there’s also a fifth gear while the chassis remains unchanged.

The MSX125 is powered by a EURO5-compliant 125cc, 2-valve, air-cooled engine which produces 9.5 bhp and 1.07 kgm of torque. As mentioned before, there’s now a 5-speed gearbox to help with the out of town trips. Claimed top speed lies between 92km/h to 94km/h, while fuel efficiency figures stand at 66.6 km/l (WMTC).

Furthermore, it gets 12-inch wheel rims and hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear. The seat height measures in at 761mm, and there are 31mm USD forks along with a rear mono-shock. Honda has provided three colour options for the MSX125 – Force Silver Metallic, Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic and Gayety Red. Honda has also increased the fuel tank capacity to 6 litres and reduced kerb weight to 103 kilograms.

Can we please have one already, Honda? Maybe a reboot of ‘Bobby’ would help.
