Along with retaining the same styling as the outgoing model, it now offers a more refined engine and chassis performance.

Kawasaki’s advanced traction control system provides both enhanced sports riding performance and peace of mind under certain conditions to negotiate low-traction surfaces with confidence. The KRTC system looks at several parameters to get an accurate real-time picture. This allows riders to select between two modes to suit their riding situation and preference. Mode 1 is the least intrusive, helping to manage traction during cornering and is designed with sport riding in mind. In Mode 2, intervention occurs earlier, meaning when excessive wheel spin is detected the engine output is reduced to allow grip to be regained. This helps riders navigate wet pavement or bad stretches of road. Additionally, riders may also elect to turn the system off.

The 2023 Ninja 650 also gets a cleaner 649 cc parallel-twin engine that is re-tuned for lower emissions. This motor generates 67 bhp at 8000 rpm, and 6.5 kgm of peak torque at 6700 rpm, and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is underpinned by a trellis high-tensile strength steel frame. Suspension duties are handled by 41 mm telescopic front forks and a mono-shock at the rear. It gets 300 mm dual petal disc brakes at the front with dual-piston callipers and a single 220 mm petal disc at the rear with a single-piston calliper. Kawasaki sells the Ninja 650 equipped with Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres.
