Piaggio India recently announced that they will begin production of the Aprilia SXR 160 from its Baramati plant, soon. This premium scooter was first unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, which honestly, seems like lightyears ago. Nevertheless, the SXR 160 will be a welcome edition in the Indian two-wheeler market.

Piaggio hopes to carve out a new premium scooter market in the country with this new product. As far as styling goes, the SXR 160 will come with a host of goodies like twin-crystal headlights with wraparound LEDs, diamond-reflection wraparound LED taillamps, signature Aprilia graphics and dark chrome elements.

Moreover, there’ll be a dual telescopic front suspension, adjustable rear suspension, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), ventilated disk brakes with twin pot-callipers, digital instrument cluster and a mobile connectivity accessory. There’s, of course, more but we’ll get to know about this all-new scooter with time.

Lest we forget, it’ll come with a 160cc, 3-valve, fuel-injected motor. Unfortunately, that’s all we know so far. However, we look forward to knowing and getting to ride this intriguing new big boy from Piaggio soon. If any of the other Aprilia’s are something to go on, the SXR 160 should be a hoot to ride.
