Priced at Rs 42,999, ex-showroom, Delhi, the new Honda Cliq is another offbeat entrant in the 100-110 cc segment. The automatic scooter is the first among its peers to be offered with block pattern tyres.

Unveiled today in Jaipur, the Honda CLIQ is, according to Honda, ‘developed to maximise utility with additinoal value of comfort and convenience for utilitarian customers’. Unlike the Navi, which misses out on the conventional footboard, the CLIQ gets one, apart from underseat storage and optional accessories like additional luggage carrier.

Powered by HMSI’s trusted 110 cc engine that makes 8 bhp@7000 rpm, the 102 kg Honda CLIQ comes with a V-matic automatic gearbox. It has a 3.5-litre fuel tank, CBS-equipped (Combined Braking System) 130 mm drum brakes at both front and rear, and 90/100 10-inch tyres. It gets both kick and self start, and can achieve a maximum speed of 83 kph.

Apart from a standard mobile charging socket, the CLIQ also gets a couple of optional accessories, like a front screen, floor cover, box centre, cap cover, rear carrier, etc. Colour choices include Patriotic Red and White, Black, Moroccan Blue with White, and Oculus Grey.

To be made available across the country in a stage-wise manner, the Honda CLIQ is priced at Rs 42,999, ex-showroom, New Delhi.

HMSI’s President and CEO, Minoru Kato said, “Six out of 10 two-wheelers sold in India belong to 100-110 cc segment. Within this segment, automatic scooters have witnessed tremendous growth and now count for almost half of the total size. With the highly increasing demand and varied customer needs, this segment is poised to sub segmentisation. As the leaders of scooter category, Honda has developed CLIQ which would address the needs of customers with additional value of comfort and convenience.”

HMSI’s Senior VP, Sales and Marketing, Yadvinder Singh Guleria said, “Focussed at up-country customers with a progressive mindset CLIQ is a prefect blend of practicality, versatility, and value for money. Breaking the price barrier of automatic transmission on two wheels, only Honda as the market leader in automatic scooters with its unparalleled economies of scale and assured trust, could challenge traditional preferences by bringing this kind of disruption in the 100-110cc segment.”

Further details will be available once we ride the vehicle tomorrow. If you have any questions regarding the CLIQ, send us a DM on Facebook.
