Continuing the great legacy of racing DNA that was first witnessed with the YZF-R1 in 1998, Yamaha has now launched the third version of the YZF-R15 in India at the Auto Expo 2018. Yamaha’s smallest faired motorcycle for India now comes with a 155 cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected motor that is now tuned to produce 19 bhp and 1.52 kgm and comes mated to the 6-speed gearbox.

With the version 3.0, Yamaha has introduced the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system in India on the YZF-R15 which allows linear acceleration with a high-performance character along with sharper throttle response. The motorcycle also gets an Assist & Slipper (A&S) clutch which helps to reduce the weight of the clutch pull and provides easier downshifts during deceleration. Using the same Delta box frame, the new YZF-R15 is now a more powerful, feature rich and sportier motorcycle to own.

Design-wise, the YZF-R15 adopts its styling cues from its elder siblings, the YZF-R1 and YZF-R6, giving the motorcycle an even sportier and aggressive look. The motorcycle now features an LED headlamp and tail lamp, a fully digital instrument console with a gear position indicator and shift light and a new muffler design with 3-stage expansion and a 3-way catalytic converter. Yamaha is also offering the R15 with an optional Racing Kit that consists of Metzeler tyres, Daytona muffler, winglets on side fairing and frame sliders.
